Research shows there is a growing need for healthcare and socialization for the expanding older population in Michigan. According to a study by the Alzheimer’s Association, twenty-one Michigan counties have a median age of 50 or older – more than any state. This means there will be an increase in the number of cases of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia related conditions. The research also indicates that rural counties rank among the state’s poorest, which makes the challenge of aging even more significant.

10 Year Anniversary
We are celebrating 10 years of outstanding service to older adults in the communities we serve. It was April 1, 2009 when the first seven participants came through the door of our Battle Creek center. Who would have imagined that ten years later we would be serving nearly 500 seniors on a regular basis in three different centers spanning into five different counties? And we are still growing! ‘Tis the season for celebration. Fabulous food, fun gatherings with family and friends, and a chance to finally get decorations out of storage to transform our homes into winter wonderlands. There is indeed something special about the holiday season that warms the soul and puts almost everyone in a good mood. It’s a time when smiles abound. What is “PACE”?
PACE stands for “Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly.” PACE is a long-term comprehensive health care program that enables frail elderly adults to live at home in their communities for as long as medically and socially possible. CentraCare is the official PACE program for Calhoun, Kalamazoo and eastern Van Buren counties in Michigan.
